In these days of instability in the world, it is more than ever essential for young journalists to understand the importance of quality journalism by fighting fake news and respecting the ethics of the profession.
Every year we support recently graduated young female students from an EU country to come to Brussels and kick-start their career in the important profession of EU journalism. The Lénaïc Fund for Journalism aims to help those selected find their passion for this important profession just as Lénaïc Vaudin d’Imécourt did when she came to Brussels in 2011 and began her journalistic career.
The Lénaïc Fund for Journalism has been set up by the family and friends of Lénaïc – in her memory – after she tragically passed away from cancer in September 2015 at the young age of 28.
Through her hard work and tenacity for ‘getting the story’, Lénaïc became the leading Brussels journalist in the field of EU trade policy in just a few years – creating from scratch EU Trade Insights, a daily specialist news sheet on trade issues. She also brought this to life on-screen every fortnight for the digital media platform viEUws. In a very short space of time, Lénaïc became an accomplished journalist and editor in both print and on-screen. The quality and integrity of her journalism – as well as her unfaltering professionalism – led the US government to select Lénaïc to participate in the prestigious US International Visitors Leadership Program in 2012.
To make this happen, we need your help – and every donation comes with the peace of mind of full transparency and oversight by the King Baudouin Foundation – Belgium’s leading charity and the invaluable support of MEP Marietje Schaake, the Ambassador of the Lénaïc Fund for Journalism.
Thank you for your support.
