A message from the Lénaïc fund

Dear Friends of the Lénaïc Fund,

It is with great sadness that Charles and I have had to make the decision to close the
Lénaïc Fund for quality journalism as age and fatigue is creeping up on us!

As Lénaïc’s parents, you can imagine how heartbreaking that decision has been, but we
would like to thank all of you who have made this great venture possible: The King Baudoin Foundation, David, John, Anne, Marietje and Rory for a start, the Spokesperson’s service of the European Commission, all of Lénaïc’s friends, colleagues and sources who have supported us and stayed by our side throughout and all of you who helped to make it possible for us to offer fellowships to eight wonderful and very able young women.

A particular thank you to our media partners: MLex, Politico and Euractiv for offering
training to our fellows, to Jacki and Geoff, Colin (who very bravely climbed mountains for
us!), and all of you who raised money or contributed so that we could offer a grant to each
of our fellows to survive in Brussels during their training.

And last but not least, a big thank you to all our Fellows, Maria, Judith, Zosia, Eline, Giulia,
Louise, Sarah Anne and Julia, for keeping Lénaïc’s memory alive by working hard and in
the spirit of the Fund and for their kindness towards us. A particular thank you to Judith
who, with Eline and Giulia’s help, managed the website and the social media for us. We
wish them all the very successful career that they each deserve and I urge you to carry on
following their careers online.

The Fund has stopped but the spirit of the Lénaïc Fund will live through you all. We cannot
be grateful enough. From the bottom of our heart, thank you.
